File Saving and Installation of Unauthorized Software

Saving files to the local hard drive of the lab computers is not permitted, unless authorized. In the PC Lab, all students and faculty have personal shared directories on the H: drive (the file server named "Pearl"). In the Macintosh Lab, users need to save to Zip discs, or floppy discs (only six of the Macs have floppy disc drives).

Installation of software to any drives on the local area network (including the file server) is not permitted.

Users, Instructors, staff member and faculty are requested to save any important files or documentation to the Lab Server.

Request for space on the Lab Server must be made to the Academic Technology Lab Manager.

Local disk drive, My Document, Documents folders, and Open Lab folders are temporary storage and will randomly be removed. All files saved on the PCs are purged when the next user logs-on (save your files to your personal directory on the H: drive).

The duty of the Lab monitors includes cleaning up the Macintosh weekly; unsaved files will be purged. (The files are automatically purged in the PC Lab.)

Un-authorized and unlicensed software, or documents found on the local hard disk or any network disk drive would be removed.

NDNU is responsible for loss of files store on the local hard drives.

Floppy discs and Zip discs are not provided.

Attaching any external devices to the lab computers and/or transferring of data, files and any licensed software to and from local disk drive or any network drive (LAN/WAN) is prohibited.
